There are 10 suggestions to question “what is the best hotel in bangkok?”

  1. Hmmm…I like the "yet affordable" bit thrown in there :)

I really like the Oriental. I also have it as one of my top 10 sites in Bangkok. It’s not what you would call affordable though – but that depends on how rich you are.

If you are on a budget I really like the Tower Inn (now Unico Grande Silom) – basically cos I like the pool. Last time I was there you got a really nice breakfast too. The location is also very central.

I also had Baiyoke Sky Hotel on my top ten list. The view from the top is breathtaking.

Check out the links below for more info.

  2. If you are looking best hotels in Bangkok then you can do booking from http://www.a1bangkokhotels.com. I hope it must be useful for you.

  3. Baiyoke Sky. It’s new and beautiful. Affordable too. I was there recently and I really had fun visiting the nearby boutiques and malls. Check it out.

  4. One of the poshest local hotel would be the Princess baiyoke sky. Although Bangkok also has alot of international hotel chains too. I think alot of the major hotel chains are there and can be found close to one another near the shopping district and is right beside the Chao Praya river.

  5. *In* the clothing districts Pratunam and Bobae your best options are the Bayoke Sky hotel (Pratunam) and Bobea Tower in Bobea.

If you want a better hotel *near* Pratunam I would recommend the Arnoma Hotel. That’s a lot better than Bayoke Sky.

  6. I like the Oriental. When I was young, I organized a reunion for my class. My friends and I wore slippers and dressed pretty badly while taking money to pay the deposit to rent the boat for the reunion just for kicks, and they treated us still very nicely still.
    We started liking them since.
Sometimes, we went together just like five or six of us and ordered different kind of beers each. They’d come and serve each one of us the right kind of beers.
I like them because they notice little things and got them right, not most of the time, all the time. They’re the best.

  7. Baiyok Sky Hotel is suit you with nice view and cheap shopping area (Pratunam market) and it is easy to access to many shopping center around here. http://www.thailandbooking.org/bangkok/baiyokeskyhotel/info.htm?on=&www=hotels-at-thailand.com

  8. Why not start your question with "I am looking for a hotel for "X" dollars/baht per night – what is the best hotel I can get for that price?" That way you will get more suggestions tailored to your price range.

Cheapest hotel rooms in Bangkok with air conditioning, private toilet, hot water, safety box for valuables, TV and maid service will start around 600 baht (lousy view or no view.) The more money you pay the better the room looks. If a really nice view is what you want then you may pay a little more than the basic low prices.

There are street vendors selling cheap shoes and shirts in lots of places in Bangkok. Such as, but not limited to, Patpong Night Market, MBK, Pratunam, Chatachak Weekend Market and lower Sukhumvit Road.

My suggestion is to stay on Sukhumvit Road or in the Siam area so you can use the Skytrain to get to many areas in the city. The Skytrain is cheap and easy to use (overhead transit system)

This hotel is right on the Skytrain stop. Asia Hotel, it is close enough t walk to the shopping on Phetchaburi Road where there are lots of malls, street vendors and a mini garment center (near the Baiyoke Tower Hotel.) Panthip Plaza computer/electronics mall is there too.

This hotel is close to nightlife, Sukhumvit shops and street vendors, Skytrain, travel agencies for tours, etc. Swiss Park Hotel.

You can get hotels that are over 4000 baht per night if you want, some people think that that price is affordable too!

    Good luck.

  10. Grand Diamond Prathunam http://www.discovery-thailand.com/Hotels%20Map%20Pages/Pratunam%20Siam%20Hotels%20Map.html
    is a good choice!
IT needs, general market & department store shopping right there! Large department stores next door and across the road, Pratunum market across the road and IT city (Pantip Plaza) next door – couldn’t get much better. Great breakfast makes a positive start to the day. Obliging doorman helps find a taxi. There is a 7-Eleven just next to the hotel which is very convenient. Room Service Menu is excellent and reasonably price. The food is okay but for my feeling tries to be a bit too much European. But overall, this is a great hotel, and I strongly recommend!

Try http://www.discovery-thailand.com for more Thailand info, they also offer discount room rates up to 80% off.
