1. Go to the Mulu Caves – one of the deepest caves in the world today!

2. Also, see for yourself the colourful lifes of the Ibans and Dayaks in long houses. While you are there, remember to find out stories about Headhunters in the past and be fascinated with the traditional Ngajat dance!

3. Not forgeting of course is make a visit to the Cat Musuem in Kuching.

4. And go to the Bako National Park to catch a glimpse of the famous hornbill bird, and shake hand with the orang utan!

5. Never leave Sarawak without seeing how the locals find and manufacture Bird’s Nest. Is really an eye opener experience to see how Bird’s Nest is obtained.

* Seafood is cheap in Sarawak.
* Shopping complexes are modern as the one in KL and Penang.
* While accomodation expenses are much more affordable as compared to KL and Penang.
* Kuching, Miri, Sibu and Bintulu would the cities in Sarawak that worth you travel research if you plan to visit Sarawak.
* As bonus, you have the option to cross over to Kalimantan Indonesia easily to visit Indonesia cities such as the Pontianak city. Not forgeting of course you can cross over to Brunei and catch a glimpse of the beautiful city of Bandar Seri Begawan.

2)there are alot of 4 or 5 star hotels in Kuala Lumpur…and most of them are quite reasonable and clean.

3)trust me..there are many – many things to see and do….malaysia is know famously for it’s shopping complexes…Suria KLCC, Mid Valley Megamall..

4) trust me…you need not to worry about food!lol

5)ask a local tourist information center…

6) cassinos…umm..no..only at genting highlands…but there are a few discos and clubs at KL…one thats nice is Quba

Definitely book in advance. If you go thru a travel agent, you will have to pay extra fees. I just looked on line on several sites, found the hotel we wanted in the right location, and went to the hotel’s website to book the hotel. That ends up being the least expensive way. Without the third party involved, you are less likely to have problems with your reservation.

We ended up staying at the Corus Hotel. Very nice, I’d say 4 stars by American Standards. It was $159 MYR/night, which is about $43/night.

Malaysia is a beautiful country, rich with culture and diversity. Not only that, but compared to the US, it is realtively inexpensive. We spent two days there and this is what we did:

Also, instead of doing the walks, we ended up hiring a driver. It cost us about 100 USD, but there was 7 of us, and we used the itinerary below. It was well worth it. I can find the drivers info if you are interested, or you can ask the concierge at the hotel to arrange a driver.

Unfortunately we didn’t get to try any really good Malaysian restaurants. My family were wimps and just wanted to eat at the Hard Rock Café and the hotel restaurant.

Do ask someone though were to find a good cup of the tarik. It’s really good hot tea, they call it pulled tea, watch them make it and you will know why.

Q2-6 depends on which state ur going. do visit the “cuti-cuti malaysia” website and then decide on the state. only then can u know more about the answers to Q2-6. but one famous casino is in Genting Highland, KL.

The usual places that most Singaporeans head to are :

Malacca. Just about 3 away from the causeway. Place is quite quiet and easy to move around. You can stay at the city centre or closer to the coast at Mahkota. Tere are a few 4-5 stars hotel there and their rates are not that expensive. You can try walk-in and ask if there is any promotion ongoing. Food-wise, you need not worry. Most of the places there do sell pretty delicious food, even better than Singapore standard, I dare say. And cheaper too. Do try their Portugese Peranakan food there. They are among the best around.

Next will be Kuala Lumpur. Heart of Malaysia, you will definitely get plenty of choices for your stay and meals. Not to mention the malls there. Humongous. Best when are there is to take the local cab to move around, as the traffic system and the jams makes it time-consuming to drive yourself. Take their mrt is possible, takes you to quite afew places. Again, food, check out the stalls along Chinatown. Pretty good food.

Further up, you can head to Penang. Island resort, you have hotels and seafood restaurants aplenty. Just choose any you like, all should be good.

Casino? Then from KL, head to Genting Highland. The couple of hotels and service apartments there are pretty good. Check the Genting World Hotel for their entertainment program and which artiste or singer is performing. Food, the restaurants around are not too bad. If not, head downhill for other selection.

Like some fresh air? Consider Cameron Highland. Strawberry farms, mushroom farm, vegetable farms, etc. So you can get real fresh farm produce there to bring back. It is always nice for fruits and vegetables. Quite a few selection of hotels and service apartments. You can find along the way and just do a walk-in booking. Food, restaurants and coffee shops abound. Try the night market too.

Seaside resort, take a drive along the east coast to Kuantan. There along the beachline, you can look up the hotels. Quite a number of seafood restaurants to indulge in if you like.

Frankly, you need not have to do much preparation. Just drive into any place you like, get a room and enjoy your stay. The food there has not disappoint me yet. They do load the dishes with ingredients so that the food taste better than here. Just go try it. And helluva cheap too.
