well u may visit the malaysia capital like Kuala Lumpur…
stay at Bintang Warisan hotel… its very hygiene and good service..early booking got 15% discount… there are restaurant surrounding and they are numerous pub but close in the morning around 3 like that… then u can go to Genting Highland for gambling… its legal casino plaza

3.go for the cruise,shopping,movei and of coures site seeing.
4.that depends on the food.
5.go to the beutiful temples and to the sunny beach of coures.

I prefer Penang over Kuala Lumpur, it has many places to see is cheap and is the Pearl of the orient in food, Malay, Singapore, Thai, Indian, Chinese, plus of course the dreaded KFC and Maccas.
Most hotels have a tourist operator in the foyer or just outside the hotel. They are the best to find out where to go and are reasonable, beware of the taxis, they dont have meters and will try to rip you off. English is the second language so you should not have much trouble.
I think you might have to up your room rate USD$60-75 will get you a good class hotel and room. I stayed at the CORUS in Kuala Lumpur, close to everything and the underground very close, excellent cheap Muslim/Indian restaurant straight across the road, a good meal for 2 was about USD$6, very clean and the menu in English with table service, Maccas and KFC down the road about 150 meters.
Penang we stayed at the BERJAYAS, but I think you would be better closer to Penang Road or further out where the night markets are, its full of westerners. Dearch under Asian Hotels on Yahoo or Google, they have a good choice and excellent photos of the Hotels. We booked our tour through a travel agent in Kuala Lumpur, Hotels and tours etc about 1/3rd of doing it from Australia, email: for a great deal.
Hi, just wondering how are you planning to travel up? Will you be driving? If so, this will give you more option to enjoy your stay there.
The usual places that most Singaporeans head to are :
Malacca. Just about 3 away from the causeway. Place is quite quiet and easy to move around. You can stay at the city centre or closer to the coast at Mahkota. Tere are a few 4-5 stars hotel there and their rates are not that expensive. You can try walk-in and ask if there is any promotion ongoing. Food-wise, you need not worry. Most of the places there do sell pretty delicious food, even better than Singapore standard, I dare say. And cheaper too. Do try their Portugese Peranakan food there. They are among the best around.
Next will be Kuala Lumpur. Heart of Malaysia, you will definitely get plenty of choices for your stay and meals. Not to mention the malls there. Humongous. Best when are there is to take the local cab to move around, as the traffic system and the jams makes it time-consuming to drive yourself. Take their mrt is possible, takes you to quite afew places. Again, food, check out the stalls along Chinatown. Pretty good food.
Further up, you can head to Penang. Island resort, you have hotels and seafood restaurants aplenty. Just choose any you like, all should be good.
Casino? Then from KL, head to Genting Highland. The couple of hotels and service apartments there are pretty good. Check the Genting World Hotel for their entertainment program and which artiste or singer is performing. Food, the restaurants around are not too bad. If not, head downhill for other selection.
Like some fresh air? Consider Cameron Highland. Strawberry farms, mushroom farm, vegetable farms, etc. So you can get real fresh farm produce there to bring back. It is always nice for fruits and vegetables. Quite a few selection of hotels and service apartments. You can find along the way and just do a walk-in booking. Food, restaurants and coffee shops abound. Try the night market too.
Seaside resort, take a drive along the east coast to Kuantan. There along the beachline, you can look up the hotels. Quite a number of seafood restaurants to indulge in if you like.
Frankly, you need not have to do much preparation. Just drive into any place you like, get a room and enjoy your stay. The food there has not disappoint me yet. They do load the dishes with ingredients so that the food taste better than here. Just go try it. And helluva cheap too.
there is no hotel that is a 4 or 5 star at those low end prices, no very good resturants either , eat off of the hawkers fare in the street carts, bata caves and kl is the city to stay
if ur here for shopg, the city wud be Kuala Lumpur. but if ur here for romantic getaway, try the islands. but one good thing is, feb 18 wud be the Chinese New Year celebration in whole Malaysia, celebrated by the chinese, but ppl of other races, they visit the chinese houses. wil even get to see the Lion Dance, sometimes in the shopping complexes during these period of time. im personally from sarawak, so i wud recomend sarawak. wil have the chance to experience Nature e.g. caves, waterfalls, wildlifes, CROCS, Iban longhouses, TRADITIONAL ETHNIC DANCES, food!, beaches, diving, lots more more…. haha.
Q2-6 depends on which state ur going. do visit the “cuti-cuti malaysia” website and then decide on the state. only then can u know more about the answers to Q2-6. but one famous casino is in Genting Highland, KL.
We were just in Malaysia a few months ago. We stayed in Kuala Lumpur. I did a lot of hotel “research”. We wanted to be close to downtown so that we were in walking distance of most everything. We were also just 1 block from the MRT (Malaysia’s subway, if you will), which takes you pretty much anywhere.
Definitely book in advance. If you go thru a travel agent, you will have to pay extra fees. I just looked on line on several sites, found the hotel we wanted in the right location, and went to the hotel’s website to book the hotel. That ends up being the least expensive way. Without the third party involved, you are less likely to have problems with your reservation.
We ended up staying at the Corus Hotel. Very nice, I’d say 4 stars by American Standards. It was $159 MYR/night, which is about $43/night.

Unfortunately we didn’t get to try any really good Malaysian restaurants. My family were wimps and just wanted to eat at the Hard Rock Café and the hotel restaurant.
Do ask someone though were to find a good cup of the tarik. It’s really good hot tea, they call it pulled tea, watch them make it and you will know why.
1. KL but consider travelling to another place. Difficult if you are only going for a week. Maybe Pennang Island.
2. Concorde in KL. Very nice inexpensive.
3. China town in KL, Genting highlands, Batu caves.
4. Anywhere the locals go. Avoid expensive western style or anywhere with no-one in there.

i agree with ALL of you about going to Kuala Lumpur n penang etc.just to add,DO NOT miss langkawi island.beach paradise.one of the BEST beaches in the world.it is quite far from KL,but u can book a very cheap AirAsia flight or simply take a bus from kuala lumpur to kuala kedah,then from there a ferry to go across the strait.there u can simply play around at NUMEROUS beaches (esp on the eastern site called pantai cenang),ride a cable car (going there just for that is WORTH IT..believe me) uphill to see THE WHOLE GORGEOUS ISLAND,visit the underwater world to see underwater wildlife,and of course shopping.just to mention that it is A DUTY FREE ISLAND where things r so cheap that u won’t hav enough space to bring everything u buy back home (bcs they’re so cheap that u want all of them!).if u love legends,we hav them all.and u r not ALONE.when i was there i thought that it is like a tourists’ island.lots of them.wish u luck then.
Malaysia is a delighfull city, no doubt about there. It is full with its own arts and heritage…
1) i would recommend Kuala Lumpur as a place to stay if you are the type of person who likes the night life…there are also many places to attend to your needs and pleasure. if you are the type of person who likes quiteness and a peace of mind..i would highly suggest Pulau Pangkor as a place to spend your vacation…
2)there are alot of 4 or 5 star hotels in Kuala Lumpur…and most of them are quite reasonable and clean.
3)trust me..there are many – many things to see and do….malaysia is know famously for it’s shopping complexes…Suria KLCC, Mid Valley Megamall..
4) trust me…you need not to worry about food!lol
5)ask a local tourist information center…
6) cassinos…umm..no..only at genting highlands…but there are a few discos and clubs at KL…one thats nice is Quba
you know what, i would suggest you buy a lonely planet guide book..they really help..anyways..enjoy your visit to Malaysia!!
I would highly recommend you to visit SARAWAK. KL and Penang would be good too but is too commercialised and unless you seeking urban adventure. For the real taste of traditions of Malaysia and action adventure, Sarawak is the best choice. Following some activities you can go for while you are there…
1. Go to the Mulu Caves – one of the deepest caves in the world today!
2. Also, see for yourself the colourful lifes of the Ibans and Dayaks in long houses. While you are there, remember to find out stories about Headhunters in the past and be fascinated with the traditional Ngajat dance!
3. Not forgeting of course is make a visit to the Cat Musuem in Kuching.
4. And go to the Bako National Park to catch a glimpse of the famous hornbill bird, and shake hand with the orang utan!
5. Never leave Sarawak without seeing how the locals find and manufacture Bird’s Nest. Is really an eye opener experience to see how Bird’s Nest is obtained.
* Seafood is cheap in Sarawak.
* Shopping complexes are modern as the one in KL and Penang.
* While accomodation expenses are much more affordable as compared to KL and Penang.
* Kuching, Miri, Sibu and Bintulu would the cities in Sarawak that worth you travel research if you plan to visit Sarawak.
* As bonus, you have the option to cross over to Kalimantan Indonesia easily to visit Indonesia cities such as the Pontianak city. Not forgeting of course you can cross over to Brunei and catch a glimpse of the beautiful city of Bandar Seri Begawan.
