thinking of starting to malaysia easter subsequent year. never been prior to & the little ideas would be unequivocally appreciated. we wish the beachfront 4/5 star hotel. the relativley still resort,a great preference of bars & great grill etc though no banging nightclubs. in further what continue could i expect, is it protected to get out & about though hassle( i’ve been to jamaica & while it was pleasing & the road house glorious the notation we left the road house we were surrounded by locals pestering aggressivley & this is the last thing i want).what is the internal food similar to ? the last subject might appear stupid though certitude me to me , i have the fear of snakes & while i know they will be there is it the same as alternative places where we do not see them(i’ve been to the carribean, mexico,,africa, the med etc & the usually lizard i’ve seen was in the brand new timberland ).

hi trinity, I will get my fella to answer this question later tonight (so don’t close it) he has been there, and his dad lives over there… he will probably want you to go have a beer with his dad!!!
(he lives on a sailboat in langkawi, …i think hes still there!!)
did you ever start horse riding?
Hi, (Izo’s fella speaking) went to Langkawi with my son for my Fathers wedding. Langkawi is a tax free island of the northwest coast of Malaysia – lots of natural features close, natural park where divers (& my 8 year old) can swim with reefs & sharks, James Bond island from the Man with The Golden Gun ect.
Beautiful place my father who has been sailing the world for fifteen years has recently decided to sell his boat & live there permanently! Food is tremendous, like Thai, but better – go to local restauirants dont stay in hotel compound.
As for snakes – never saw any but sure they are there, you are more likely to notice monkeys & fruit bats.
Langkawai is a forty five minute flight on local airline from KL but any extra flight costs will be recouped by the tax free status when you spend on you visit.
Have a look at SunSail they recently started a charter base there to exploit the natural surroundings.
Enjoy.
We go to Sarawak on a regular basis. Kuching is the Capital, & Damii beach resort is only a few miles away. You can rent a Chalet, ( marble bathroom & georgous ), or stay at the Holiday Inn. It is right on the South China sea, splendid facilities, & realy cheap, as everything is there. Kuching itself has loads of bars in the numerous hotels, but the best food is in the local restaurants where the locals eat. Go to the Top Spot, its on the top of a multistory car park, Serves super food & 12 of us ate there for aprox £20, & that included soft drinks. Lok Thien is a Thai restaurant , bit more expensive, but still cheap to us. The Magenta is an old house converted to a resturant & it is excellent, but closed on Mondays. All well worth a visit. There is no crime, very safe to walk around , in all our visits never had a problem. The people are very friendly & the cultural centre have music shows , & you can visit the longhouses & be entertained by the local tribes. I dont like snakes either, but never seen one yet. Taxis are approx £ 1, anywhere in the city area. I tell you , it is a great place to go, we took a friend last November & she cant wait to go back. Most folks speak English of sorts, so not a problem.. Go & enjoy yourself. If you want a hotel in Kuching, go to The Harbour View,. Cheapest & best. Good food there too in the restaurant. Cheers.
