I am travelling with dual of my friends as well as staying in Bangkok from 20th to 24th January 08.
Any info upon great hotels around US $ 50-60 located tighten to selling as well as eating areas?
I review utterly the lot about hotels in bangkok though this would be beneficial if we get the little reviews upon great hotels.

Also should we book the road house prior to reaching bangkok or should we book the road house when i get there?

The Ambassador Hotel is a good hotel, it’s very big and has rooms for a variety of budgets. It’s very well located, pretty much in the heart of the city and has a sky-train station right outside the front.
It would be best to book in advance to take advantage of a better room rate.
I can recommend City Lodge, Sukhumvit Soi 19 – near Asoke BTS. There is also a City Lodge at Soi 9 – near Nana BTS.

Hotel Ambassador in Sukhumvit area fits well in your budget.
Lot of restaurants in an around there.
Better make the booking bit earlier. Try to find any thai websites to make the booking so that you will get better rates.

I stayed in Radisson Hotel but it’s quite far from most shopping areas. But I enjoyed my stay because they serve good food and rates are really value for money.
Read hotel reviews from tripadvisor.com and choose from the ones you like. Better book before going because most internet rates are cheaper than rack rates.
hi there, 20-24Jan08 should be the low season in BKK. maybe u can try the Novotel Siam….it’s a 4 stars htl n is located in the heart of shopping district which = Siam itself. some htls r really cheap but they kinda far fr the skytrain. it’s not v safe to walk in the dark during evening after u get off fr the train. Novotel Siam is rite located next to the skytrain SIAM station.
