We will be nearing during midnight as well as need a good, protected road house really tighten to a airport. We do not wish to stay during a airfield road house since of a cost (too high).
We wish to stay nearby a airfield since a single of a passengers is withdrawal during 6pm to Cambodia a subsequent day.

Queen’s Garden Resort At Riverview is really value for the money and if u have a connecting flight the next day I can recommend this hotel.Pick up at airport so easy go to exit 2 and theres always waiting somebody for you with the Queens garden sign. USD21 in Sep http://www.discovery-thailand.com/Hotels%20Map%20Pages/Airport%20Suvarnabhumi%20Hotels%20Map.html

Good luck
If your staying only overnight and getting another flight out from Bangkok that’s ok to stay close to the Airport. But if your coming to stay in Bangkok for a few days, you need to get a hotel located more in the city center near the skytrain. After midnight you can get a taxi to downtown Bangkok is about 35 minutes, if you stay out near the airport and come to down town it’s could take you an hour or more depending on traffic.
The journey into Bangkok from the airport does not take long by taxi at that time of night (30 – 45min) and Thailand is a fairly safe city. If you get a taxi from the upper level (departures) they will take you by the meter and it will probably be nicer than staying near there airport.
If you do wish to stay near to the airport some hotels for a lower budget than the main airport hotel are listed below.
Grand Inn Come Hotel – 3 stars

I am similar to you. I arrive BKK at 1 am and don’t have a connection till 1 in the afternoon, so I wanted to get some sleep. Since I am flying Air Asia, I went to their website and found a great list of small, local hotels/hostels. I booked myself one, which looks like a good, clean and great priced place.
Here is Air Asias Lodging Site:

There is one very cheap and close to the airport called 13 Coins Airport Minburi Resort. It’s on Rhamkhamhaeng and basically anything near Rhamkhamhaeng is close.

Also google for Nasa Vegas Hotel. Takes about 10 minutes to get there that time of day.
