Going to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia next weekend. Need a little advice.?

I will be spending 4 nights in a city as well as have to have during slightest 2 trips to a Thai embassy upon Jalen Ampang whilst there. Judging by maps as well as reading, Chinatown or Golden Triangle might be great options for stay. Looking for hotel/hostel info, practice as well as names. Want midst to low price with a/c. Considering pre-booking for convience, though would adore a little feedback first.

Also, I’m drifting in about mid-day as well as consternation a most appropriate equates to of ride from a airport…taxi, train, bus, etc, as well as cost. Any suggestions of great sights, restaurants, etc have been welcome.

Thanks for any assistance we can give!

    Suggestions:
  1. The nearest hotel to the Thai Embassy is the Crown Princess hotel. Thai Embassy is just walking distance away from this hotel. However this hotel is a 5 star hotel , so be prepared to pay for a 5 star rate. Get the latest rate from their websites. Hotels near the golden triangle are even more expensive. .

If cost is your concern, i suggest you stay at the cheapest hotel in Kuala Lumpur , the Tune Hotel. It is very cheap but decent. A/C is not provided unless you are willing to pay a certain sum to buy the credit hours for A/C. Overall you probably pay at least 1/5 of what you have to pay for a 5 star hotel room. From this hotel, take the LRT train to KLCC station. Alight from KLCC station, cross to the opposite road and walk a few hundred metres and you’ll reach the Thai Embassy. Basically you can take the LRT train to all over Kuala Lumpur city centre. It is cheap and convenient. Try not to take taxi as most taxi drivers like to fleece their foreign passengers. Alternatively for travel within Kuala Lumpur city centre, you may take the Rapid KL buses. Purchase their daily pass which entitle you to unlimited travel on their buses for that particular day.

On the day of your departure, take the LRT train to Kuala Lumpur Sentral Station. From the this main station, purchase a ticket for ERL KLIA ExpressTrain directly to KLIA. Fare :RM35.00, Travel time: 28 minutes. Frequency : every 15 minutes. You can even check in for your flight and luggage at this main station before taking this train. Try to take this train at least 3 hours before your actual departure time.

  2. if u want budget but still clean and decent, hotel, hotel chinatowninn or swiss-inn at chinatown is ideal. And yes u can book in advance. both are located at Petaling street in chinatown and u could visit the nite market which starts at 8pm, near to puduraya bus terminal, and oso well serve by LRT stations and u could go elsewhere without being fleece by taxi drivers.

From airport, take the KLIA express train to KL sentral, From KL sentral, u have a choice of taxi, LRT or monorail depending on where u are heading for. If u heading for chinatown like I suggest, take LRT to Pasar Seni, one stop only, and walk to ur hotel. cost only one malaysian dollar!

You may want to go Genting Highlands too, jus take a Genting express bus at puduraya, enjoy cool breeze there, scenic cable car, themepark and casino. the journey is one hour plus.

  3. If you’re looking for a reasonably priced hotel I would suggest the Tai Ichi in Bukit Bintang, price is between Rm60/Rm90 per night.

It’s a 10 minute walk to China town and it’s a Rm10 taxi ride to Jalan Ampang from the hotel. I would recommend getting the express bus from the airport.
Just step outside the main building and dozens of agents will try to sell you a bus ticket priced at around Rm45.

As for restaurants, well, be a little adventurous and try them out, after all one man’s pleasure is another man’s poison…

    Good luck..
