Your hotel is right at the entrance of the Chinatown in Malaysia, which is the general area of Jalan Petaling or Petaling Road. Simply walk out the door and head left for about 20 metres, is the entrance proper. Your hotel is also well served by a public transit system that will take you to KLCC, which has the Petronas Towers, which were formerly the tallest buildings in the world. Street hawkers serve delicious food on the street itself all day till about 3am. The main street is also closed to traffic after 3pm each day. Life on Chinatown goes almost round the clock.
The Chinatown In Kuala Lumpur is called the "Petaling Street". It has plenty of replicas of branded goods for sale. I’m not sure about the normal working hours but I guess is 10am to 10pm. I’m not really about the gourmet foods but you can try it out
Kota Raya is the best place near Petaling St.
You are staying at the right place for a chinatown visit, and for transport around KL. Good place, Ive stayed there before. Chinatown in KL is a must see, and the foods are excellent. Everything is gourmet! If you dont recognise something, my rule of thumb is just try it! Many many outdoor restaurants, great prices. The market itself full of everything you will ever see for sale anywhere in Asia. Very busy tho, hope you have a loose view on what constitutes personal space – you WILL be jostled pushed stood on, just smile and jostle back! Wear loose cotton clothing, no synthetics, its hot in there. Carry only the essentials. Bargain good humouredly. Have a great trip.
try the claypot low sue fun. same row as Swiss Inn. along the road. Or inside chinatown, locate Hong Leong Bank, try the hokkien mee and grilled fish. Koon Kee for wan tan mee, inside chinatown also. before hong leong bank. or the same row as your hotel, walk further down, there’s a coffeeshop selling beefnoodle. or take a cab to jalan alor. not too far from your hotel. or in the morning go into chinatown ask for the wet market, then look for a stall selling yong tow foo. very famous. there’s a small lane in next to malaya hotel. the chee cheong fun also good.
Petaling Street is the chinatown in KL. It is well known for selling pirated and fake goods. But it is also a good place to find good street hawker food. A word of advice is to bring some diarrhoea pills along if u wanna eat street hawker food.
Why worry so much?? By the time you arrive at the hotel ask the front desk. They will give you full assistance and also get a map with you.
