There are 3 suggestions to question “Bangkok- good hotels?”
There are so many hotels spread over several areas it is not practical to recommend one.
"near transport but not to busy"? Define "not too busy". And likely – not too busy means LESS convenient transport.
What suits you may not suit other people. We all have different taste and standard. Bangkok has them all to satisfy any taste and standard.
It really depends on your budget as well. There are great hotels that will suit ANY budget but also the fact of life applies – you get what you pay for.

This is the site I use, but there are many other sites you can go and have a look and compare.
Hope this helps.
HI I can highly recommend the BEL-AIR PRINCESS ,it,s in the best location for everything and is not to expensive It,s minutes from sky train and sukhumvit road for the shopping
The pool is fine for a city centre hotel
We have stayed here 6 times
Your options for transport in Bangkok are
If you want to be close to transport you want to be close to the BTS Skytrain or Subway. There are heaps of options for these and it will depend on your budget.
Here are some I have stayed at that are clean and have great pools, and are close to one of the train stations.
Swissotel Le Concorde
Amari Boulevard
Rembrandt Towers
Windsor Suites (a little dated but massive rooms)
Alterniviely the Novotel at Suvarnabhumi Airport is very nice with a massive awesome swimming pool.
